Comfort Zone Review & Swatches

Best eyeshadow palette from the drugstore, $4.99CAD at Walmart, there are 2 other palettes & I know there is more in the US but I have yet to see them in Canada =(. This is a nice versatile neutral palette with great payoff. Wet & Wild have been the brand to watch out for after they re vamp their line & came out with the Icon eyeshadows with 6 Pan & trios.

Black radiance

I got this at CVS $4.99USD for the palette & a mascara. These reminded me of Wet & Wild Icon Eyeshadows in terms of packaging & pigmentation. They look identical.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Collection

These drugstore beauties have been compare to the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre & MAC Paint Pots; they are simply cream shadows that pack a big punch. I currently own 6 from the permanent collection, and they are the best products this year from the drug store. They are super easy to use; can be used by itself for quick swatch of colour or as a base to give powder shadow a pop. $6.99CAD at Walmart

MAC Eyeshadow Collection & Swatches

This is all the MAC shadow I own so far, but with all the other brands of cosmetics, I don't know whether or not I would invest in MAC anymore. I do enjoy the convenience of palette, the range of shades and the amount of product; the pigmentation can be hit & miss with certain shades.

Walmart Haul

I went to Walmart today with the intention of getting hair dye and of course I walked out with more than I intended.

Garnier Olia Oil Powered Colour in 6.1 Light Ash Brown $10.96CAD. I wanted to try this one because it has no ammonia and it is formulated with 60% oil blend with flower oil. I wanted to dye my hair but was hoping this wouldn't be as damaging. I also picked up Clean & Clear soothing eye makeup remover $5.47CAD; I used this before and it was on sale. It is decent for the price and since my cleansing oil does a pretty good job at removing most of my makeup.

I also picked up the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Pepsy Coral which I got to wear on top of MAC Paint Pot in Perky. They both have a nice sheen to it and it is a pinky coral colour which is great for the spring.

The L'Oreal Pepsy Coral has more of a pink undertone while perky is more peachy, so hopefully it'll be a good combination.

Maybelline Spring 2013 Color Tattoo

Maybelline came out with new limited edition colors in their Color Tattoo range and I was super excited to give them a try.

(Review from Musing of a Muse) These are all the colours in the range. I picked only only 2 of the colors that appear to me and thought I would I would actually use.

Determining Skin Type

Quiz to Determine Skin Type

Determining your skin type is very important because it can decide what kind of product is right for you in order to provide a flawless finish throughout the day and making sure that you're not using products that can break you out as well.

1. Oily Skin (makeup's worst enemy but less likely to get wrinkles)
2. Dry Skin (more prone to wrinkles & can make you look worst with makeup)
3. Normal Skin/ Combination (not too oily & not too dry; has a combination of both depending on products used) --> best of both worlds
4. Acne prone (self explanatory)

Covergirl 2013 Spring collections ;)

I was at my local Walmart yesterday and I noticed a shiny new display and couldn't help but to check it out! As you can see there is a variety of bright shades and this collection has 1 mascara, 10 shades of eyeshadow crayons and 13 new eyeshadow pots. Note all the vibrant colours especially the bright blue eyeshadow. They also have a variety of different crayons including a champagne color which I might have to try although Milani just released Naturaly Chic Shadow Eyez (musing of a muse).

Ikea day

We are getting a new place come December and we have started to frequent Ikea, Bed Bath & Beyond and other furniture stores. I can't wait to furnish our place and because we have nothing to start off with we will have to get everything including a can opener.

I saw this and I think I might get it for the new house. It's pretty much wall decor and it looks like a grandfather clock !! Is that not awesome?? (I'm dorkie I know)

Essence Stays no matter what 24hr liquid eyeliner

I got this liner after seeing the display at shopper and thought I had nothing to lose since it was $3.49CAD +tax. Sorry my looks a little beat up, I took it on a trip with me and most of the writing has rubbed off.

Essence claims:
extremely resistant! this eyeliner pen’s formula lasts up to 24 hours – even after jumping into the pool! with a felt-tip applicator, the deep-black texture creates an accurate line that lasts… and lasts and lasts, no matter what!

Physicians Formula Bronze BOOster

This is currently on sale at Wal-mart for $12.40CAD along with most of the Physician's Formula products.  It comes in 2 shade: Light to Medium & Medium to Dark. The packaging is very high quality with a brush underneath which I don't use. As you can see from the picture the cash is a bronze colour brown case that makes it look fancy which I appreciate. PF is the pricer drugstore brand and I have not found a product that super impress me beside their liquid eyeliner.

I have read a lot of great reviews on this bronzer and since it was on sale, I thought I give it a try. It has a slight shimmer that is barely noticeable on the face. Not orange/red, has a nice light sandy brown. I got the Medium to Dark shade (for reference, I am NC37-NC40) and it is a perfect contour shade and it gives me a nice glow when applied to the forehead and cheeks.

It has a soft texture and I noticed powder flew everywhere if I tapped the powder too aggressively with my brush. So the key here is to tap lightly into the powder and you will get the perfect amount on your brush (I used the Real Technique blush brush) because this bronzer is very pigmented and can show up dirty/red if applied too heavily. This is a $21CAD bronzer if not discounted, which is really pricey for drugstore but if you can catch it on sale, it might be worth your while. And if you're in the market for a complete matte formula, I would recommend NYC Sunny bronzer or Too Face Chocolate Bronzers.

Leave a comment on any PF products I should try:)

Real Techniques Brushes by Samantha Chapman Review

These brushes were very hard to get my hands on as a Canadian, but recently Wal-mart has started to stock them and I am super excited because they are the best brushes for their price. There are 3 sets and a couple of individual brushes as well.

All the brushes in this line is super soft, no shedding, no bleeding and beautifully made.
Fast forward for review -->
The first brush is the powder brush $9.99USD (Ulta) and as you can see, it is a big synthetic powder brush with a decent size brush head that is great for applying any powder products. I have been use this for my powder foundation and loose powder to set my liquid foundation.

 (powder brush)

Look how big it is!! (that's what she said=)

Blush brush $10.99USD (@ Farleyco - ships to Canada), I got this mainly for bronzer rather than blush because I think its too big for my little face. It is equally soft as all the other brushes and does an amazing job in applying bronzers. (I have alway loved NYC Sunny bronzer)
 (blush brush)

(Essential Kit: multi task brush, foundation, dome shadow)
I don't use flat foundation brush, therefore I have nothing to say about the middle brush.
(Multitasker Brush) I use this for powder & cream blush.
(Domed Shadow Brush) I used this for cream shadow & concealer. It does a great job with under eye concealer where it gets the inner corner perfectly.
(Core Kit)**** My favourite set out of the 3.
Buffing, contour, pointed foundation, detail brush.

(Contour & Buffing Brush) - My 2 most used brush in the kit; I use the buffing brush for foundation and cream blush, it applies both seamlessly with no harsh lines or blotches. I use the contour blush for contouring my cheeks and nose; I usually use a bigger fluffier brush for applying contour/ bronzer for my forehead & along the jawline.

These are by far the best brushes I have used even compare to the Sigma brushes because they are cheaper and more accessible now that they are available in Wal-mart or Farleyco. They have a wide range of brushes for eyes and face where you can apply all sorts of makeup and most of their brushes are multitaskers as well. They average about $5/brush even face brushes and that can't be beat. Other drugstores brushes that I adore are Ecotools.
